Plane crashes at a Melbourne Airport

A light plane experienced a flip and crash at Essendon Airport in Melbourne. The incident occurred on Wednesday, just before 4pm, when a Cessna 172 aircraft landed and flipped onto its roof. Emergency crews quickly responded to the scene at runway 26.

According to a spokesperson from Victoria Fire and Rescue, the pilot, who was the only person aboard, was successfully rescued from the wreckage. Paramedics promptly assessed the pilot’s condition.

An Essendon Fields Airport spokesperson said the pilot was removed safely.

No injuries have been reported. 

Emergency services are presently attending the incident, and Essendon Fields Airport is fully cooperating, stated authorities. At this moment, there are no additional updates available. The police, ambulance, and fire crews are all present at the scene. The plane is believed to have departed from Bacchus Marsh, located northwest of Melbourne.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has initiated preliminary investigations into the matter. Essendon Airport is a popular choice among affluent travelers who often utilize private jets for their journeys.
